Vision System Installed on Rotary Press
In the 3rd quarter of 2011 E & O Tool & plastics installed a new vision system on one of our rotary presses. The vision system will give us the ability to verify that a critical insert is orientated in the correct position. In this case, the insert can be loaded incorrectly and the molded part will look the same as a part molded correctly. However, no one will know that the insert was orientated incorrectly until our customer tries to use the part. As you can see in the picture (I would like the 1st Attachment inserted somewhere near this part of the story) our Operator can see the outcome of the scanning process. We expect that this investment will benefit our insert molding customers who are dependent on precise insert placement.
In Mold Decorating
Mid 2011, E & O Tool & Plastics successfully completed a project that involved a three shot molding process. The first shot involved using an in-mold decoration and molding clear polycarbonate around it creating a lens. The 2nd shot involved taking the polycarbonate lens and molding a multi colored body around the lens. Then the 2nd shot is loaded into a separate tool and a gasket is molded on to the interior of the part. The three shots are shown in order in the pictures below.

2011 Christmas Party In Monterrey, Mexico
On December 10th our Monterrey facility took time out of our busy schedule to celebrate Christmas. Tim Osterman and Gary Pearson, our President and Vice President flew to Monterrey to celebrate with our people. The celebration included a meal with friends, a few prize giveaways, followed by a casual dance. From the pictures below it is evident that a good time was experienced by all! Gary Pearson was the Master of Ceremonies and posed for pictures with our people. We want to thank all of our people in Monterrey for their hard work and dedication to taking care of our customers!

2011 Christmas Party In Elk River, Minnesota
On December 22nd our Elk River facility celebrated Christmas. Our Executive staff served all of our employees a catered dinner from Dickies BBQ!! Given the great food from Dickies, we all ate our fill of brisket, smoked turkey, potato casserole, as well as other sides! The food was fantastic, and many people received 2nd’s and 3rd’s. We also conducted an “Ugly Sweater” contest per shift as well as conducted a Christmas Cookie contest. The winner of the “Ugly Sweater” contest was Missy Penny. Excellent job Missy!! Thanks to all who participated. The second contest was for the best Christmas Cookie. All though it was a difficult decision, and several samples were required to validate taste, the winners per shift were excellent cookies. Some of the contestants are shown in the pictures below. Thanks to everyone who took the time to create these little treasures.

25th Anniversary Celebration
On September 7th E & O Tool & Plastics, Inc celebrated their 25th year in business. From our humble beginnings in a small warehouse on the west side of Elk River, Minnesota to our current locations in Elk River and Monterrey Mexico, we continue to supply our customers with solutions and a positive work environment for our employees. On this day of celebration, our executive staff enjoyed a picnic with all three shifts. We serve up a selection of hot dogs, brats, and hamburgers, with pasta salad and a 4 bean dish for everyone. Thankfully, the weather cooperated and we all enjoyed a fun experience, which was exemplified by the genuine enjoyment illustrated by all of the employees willing to take a throw at dunking the President/CEO, Tim Osterman. As some of the pictures will show, the water was not that warm!
Cheer’s to our first 25 years, and to looking forward to the next 25 years!

Adding 3 Presses in Elk River
On August 24th, three additional presses were delivered to our Elk River location. All 3 are electric Toshiba injection molding presses, (2) 65 Ton, and (1) 110 Ton. They have been added to create additional capacity in the specific press sizes. We also decided it was time to upgrade a few of our presses. That is why we looked at the all electric line from Toshiba. They are extremely reliable and energy efficient. We are looking forward to realizing the advantages of the all electric line to add more value to our customer projects.
